Your favourite planes

In a comment, say what is your favourite plane or what you think is a nice plane and why. It will be put on this page. If you find that your plane is already there, tell me anyway that you like that plane. By doing this you will be voting for that plane. The plane with the most votes will go at the top, the one with the next most votes will go second etc..

  1. I like the B-17. The Flying Fortress packed more firepower thatn any aircraft to date. It could still be useful today for quelling civil unrest.

  2. The C-130 Hercules. Not just because I used to work on them, but it is one tough aircraft. Well, the E and H models were tough, the new J models aren’t, oh well, that is what you get for messing with a good thing.

  3. I also vote for the B-17 Flying Fortress.

Not a big fan of the C-130’s

  4. AC-130U Spooky Gunship or the Su-47
    Battleship in the Air

  5. f 14d tomcat for the win

  6. my cousin who is in the USAF and his m8s work on ac 130’s and call them spooky gunships

  7. I love the Antonov An 225 Mriya (Russian), because that’s just about the most beautiful plane from the front.

  8. I also quite like the F-35 because of it’s VTOL properties, and the Boeing 747 and Boeing B-52H, both because they’re so beautiful. Once a Cargolux 747F Came very low over us (we were visiting Grandma in Upington at the time, and it’s got an airport.)

  9. My vote is for the WW II RAF De Havilland Mosquito.

It was made out of plywood, was so fast that it could outrun anything but an ME-262, and was probably the most flexible bombers of WW II. It was used for reconnaissance, night fighting, precision bombing raids, and pathfinding.

In a sense, one could view it as one of the first uses of composites in aircraft manufacturing. The Germans even tried to develop their own copy but it was a failure (some problem with the glue used in their plywood).

  10. They’re all rubbish. The English Electric Lightning is simply the best aircraft of all time. Why? Cos it it is.

  11. personaly i love the sr 71 black bird

  12. I like the Harrier Jump Jet, for it’s VTOL proporties. Never seen how it is in combat though.

  13. F35 lighning II is epic

  14. my favorit is the argentinian made pucara it is a air-ground atack plain
